As the Sunshine Coast University Hospital gets ready to open their wards, Best Western Plus Lake Kawana Hotel celebrated their 1st birthday with a stylish cocktail-style event on Tuesday 22 November, 2016, attended by over 100 guests, clients, suppliers and loyal supporters of the hotel.
Hotel General Manager John Örning said that the hotel was already appealing to the corporate market with their much needed full-service hotel concept, Lakeside conference rooms that are regularly booked for breakfast, lunch and evening functions and meetings, and locally infamous Wildflower Restaurant & Bar.
The investment and commitment shown by Government, Stockland and the local community into this new area of Birtinya, with the development of the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital (opening April 2017), along with Business and Residential Developments, Oceanside by Stockland; identified an incredible business opportunity to support these major new developments and at the same time fill a gap in the market for a full-service Hotel on the Sunshine Coast.
“Although the first 6 Months trading after officially opening on 16th November, 2015 had been a bit tough with delays to the Hospital and our being one of the first of the new businesses in the area to open; the last four Months have been trading well and we anticipate this to increase further leading up to the Hospital’s expected opening in April 2017” said the Hotel’s General Manager John Örning
Known for its modern décor, classy design, luxurious rooms and acclaimed customer service, the Hotel opened officially on 16th November, 2015 and has quickly become a hotspot for corporate visitors to the Sunshine Coast.
For meetings and events, there are two conference rooms which open up into one versatile setting. Catering for up to 90 people for banquets or 120 people for cocktail events, the purpose-built function space flows out onto Wildflower Restaurant and Bars lakefront deck and can be tailored to all conferencing needs.
The Wildflower Restaurant has quickly become quite infamous thanks to the fresh local and innovative menu prepared by well-known and exceptional Executive Chef Gareth Collins.
“Watching this hotel start out as a construction site to morph into the Sunshine Coast’s newest and only full service Corporate Hotel, we have been overwhelmed by the support shown by the Sunshine Coast Community, and are honoured to play our part in bringing the lifestyle and medical precinct of Oceanside Kawana to fruition. With stunning Lake Kawana as the backdrop, our on-going mission is to provide superior guest comfort, service and facilities with confidence, to support the substantial investment and commitment made to the Best Western Plus Lake Kawana Hotel by owners, clients, guests and the Sunshine Coast community alike.”
“With just 12 Months trading, the hotel has been proud to win and become finalists in several prestigious awards; winning the Best Western Plus Best Property Award for Australasia and Finalists in both the HM Awards and Sunshine Coast Business Awards.
The hotel is also extremely proud to have recently become a corporate partner of the Wishlist charity as its preferred restaurant and conference venue on the Sunshine Coast; “We are excited to partner with Wishlist in time for the opening of the new Sunshine Coast University Hospital” Mr Örning said.
