Best Western Property Gives Environment Star Service
Best Western was again recognised for its commitment to the environment recently when the Best Western Hygate Motor Lodge and Conference Centre (Hamilton, New Zealand) was awarded with the Qualmark Enviro-Silver certification.
The award, specific to New Zealand, recognises tourism operators committed to maintaining environmentally friendly business practices. The Best Western Hygate Motor Lodge is the only motel in Hamilton to receive the award and one of only four properties in the Waikato region.
“We used all the latest building materials and insulation in the construction of the motel and, over the last 12 months, we made a huge effort to reduce the amount of waste going into landfills by introducing a reuse and recycle program,” says David Smith, Manager of the Best Western Hygate Motor Lodge.
“In the last 12 months we reduced the amount of solid landfill we create by more than 50 percent.”
