Phil Hateley - President and Chairman

Phil has been a member of Best Western for 24 years, 19 of these served as a Director and nine as President and Chairman. Phil currently owns and operates the Best Western Wheelers Hill International in Melbourne and the Best Western Manor Inn at Mitcham. Phil has a background in electronic engineering and, prior to entering the hospitality industry, worked for 13 years in the research and development department of Telstra.

Robert Anderson - Executive Director

Robert and his family own the Best Western Twin Towers Inn in Artarmon, Sydney. He has served as a director for 20 years, four as President / Chairman. He has also served as Chairman of the Audit Committee. In 2001 Robert received the inaugural Best Western Global Leadership Award for his contribution to Best Western.

Gerald Loughran - Chairman of the Audit and Risk Management Comittee

Chairman of Tasmanian Community Fund and of Peppermint Bay Pty Ltd, Gerald is also a director of National Australian Food Distributors Pty Ltd (NAFDA) and Governor of the University of Tasmania Foundation. Gerald is the former Chairman and Managing Director of the family electrical and furnishings business.

Ian Sandilands

Ian operates the Best Western Gregory Terrace Motor Inn - Brisbane, Australia and has been a Best Western member for five years. Ian is a director of the HMAA (Hotel and Motel Association of Australia) and a member of the Hospitality Training Association. Ian has also been the Principal of Sandilands Hospitality Consulting for the past ten years.

Col Hughes

Col is Chairman of the National Tourism Alliance and Managing Director of Global Aviation Services in Australia. A Governor of the American Chamber of Commerce, Col has sat on the board of Pacific Asia Travel Association, the Sydney Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Australian Federation of Travel Agents. He has also held executive management positions with QANTAS, Northwest Airlines, Continental Airlines and Cathay Pacific.

Graham Nunn

Graham co-owns the Best Western Sundown Motel Resort - Canberra (Narrabundah), Australia and has been a Best Western member for the past eight years. As a consultant and project co-ordinator, Graham has been involved in numerous property developments including home units, townhouses, villas, motels, commercial, retail, backpackers and caravan parks.
