Rugby World Cup aftermath positive for hotel business
The strong media coverage of New Zealand during the Rugby World Cup has begun to pay dividends for the accommodation industry, with room occupancy and bookings better than the same period last year.
Bookings for Best Western hotels from November-December 2011 were up almost 40% on the same period last year.
Kimi Anderson, General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Best Western Australasia said, “The surge in bookings is a positive sign for accommodation and tourism operators. Despite the tragic natural disasters suffered by some parts of the country, visitors are still keen to travel to New Zealand and experience all that this beautiful country has to offer”.
